Membership and Communications Committee

The Communications and Membership Committee works to support our members in the most efficient way we can from newsletters communicating our current PD, delivering an updated website with resources and events, to surveying our members to ensure that we are bringing school counselors in Maine the resources that they are looking for!  This committee does a lot of behind the scenes organizing and collaborates mostly through email!  We are always focusing on growing the membership of MESCA and in addition we are currently focusing on developing our new website and ensuring that there is a bi-monthly MESCA newsletter! If you are interested in joining this committee! Please email Kristin Tlili

Professional Development and Social Media Committee

The Professional Development / Social Media Committee strives to provide relevant and current resources for School Counselors across the state and using multiple social media platforms in order to engage, connect and support School Counselors in Maine.  The goal of this committee is to support you as professionals so that you may navigate and enhance your programs to support all students, staff and families.  We are always looking for fresh, engaging ideas for social media as well as ideas for programming and professional development needs.  If you are interested or have ideas, please do not hesitate to contact Meg Swanson

This committee is responsible for the nominations and celebrating Maine School Counselor of the Year (SCOY), Lifetime Achievement Award, and Administrator of the year. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee works to empower all Maine school counselors to develop and advocate for equitable, inclusive, and anti-bias policies and practices in education and school counseling.

We aim to:

1) increase equitable and inclusive practices within our organization,

2) increase awareness of bias and inequities which impact school counseling ethics, our students, and our MESCA members,

3) provide relevant resources and opportunities for personal and professional development. If you are interested in helping, please reach out to the committee chair, Anne Baltren
